I am beyond excited to partner with Bibigo to share about their amazing Costco steamed chicken and vegetable dumplings. They are available at Costco for $7.49 after $4.50 off through 9/26! You can enjoy them as an appetizer, side dish, light lunch or anytime snack and are sure to satisfy all your dumpling needs.
It only takes 2 minutes in the microwave
You can find the dumplings in the freezer section and each dumpling is stuffed with a juicy chicken and vegetable filling. Each box contains 6 microwavable trays and the best part is that they are ready to eat in just 2 minutes. You can simply serve them in the trays provided to eliminate the need for dishes. It also comes with a sauce packet that is . The sit in the sauce and soak up all that flavor. Maximum flavor AND maximum convenience…now how often does that happen?
Are they like xiao long bao (soup dumplings?)
The dumplings are very similar to xiao long bao as they contain a small amount of savory broth that bursts in your mouth when you bite into it. They are smaller in size and the broth is made with gelatin instead of collagen; however, they are the closest thing to xiao long bao that you will currently find at Costco.
What about the dipping sauce?
The steamed dumplings come with a soy-based sauce packet which is slightly vinegary and sweet. You can dip the dumplings in the sauce or drizzle over the tray and allow the dumplings to sit in the sauce and soak up all its flavor.
The sauce is not spicy at all but if you prefer a little bit of heat, you can top your dumplings in chili oil or sriracha. You can also mix the sauce packet provided with the chili oil to create an amazing savory, sweet, and spicy sauce to pair with your dumplings.
Where can I find chili oil?
You can find chili oil or chili garlic sauce at any local grocery store. If you have access to an Asian grocery store, you will find a very large selection of various chili oils or chili garlic sauce. Be sure to check the ingredient list as some chili oils contain peanuts.
Can I make my own chili oil?
If you can’t find chili oil you can always make your own at home using a handful of ingredients (see recipe below). All you need is a variety of spices, some aromatics, and any flavorless oil which you can heat in a pan and pour over the spices. It’s so simple and also keeps well. Store your chili oil in an airtight jar or container and it will keep for several months.
Homemade Chili Oil
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup neutral oil canola, vegetable, or avocado oil work well
- 1 tbsp crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 tbsp Korean red pepper flakes ("gochu garu")
- 1 tbsp minced garlic (about 3 cloves)
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 star anise *optional
Instructions
- Add oil and aromatics (cinnamon stick, bay leaf, and star anise) to a pan and allow to cook under medium-low heat for about 10 minutes
- Add the remaining ingredients to a heat safe bowl then slowly pour in your oil a little bit at a time. Be very careful not to pour too much oil into the bowl at once or it may overflow.
- Once the chili oil has cooled, store in an air tight container in the refrigerator for up to several months.
