Ever heard of a crookie? It’s the amazing combo of cookie dough and croissants that’s been getting lots of love online. No need to jet off to Paris or even head to a fancy bakery in NYC to try one.
I’m here to show you how you can easily whip up this tasty treat right at home using Costco croissants and store-bought cookie dough. Let’s get into it!
Why I love Costco croissants:
- Buttery and Flaky: These croissants are just how you want them – made with real butter for that authentic taste.
- Great Value: You get a dozen for $5.99, which is a steal (about $0.50 per croissant!)
- Freezer-Friendly: Pop them in the freezer, and they’ll last longer. Warm them up in the air fryer for a crispy outside when you’re ready to use them.
Tips for Making a Perfect Crookie
You might have seen videos where people bake the whole crookie at once. I tried that, but it doesn’t work well – you end up with a burnt top and gooey middle. To get the cookie dough just right (and to avoid any risks with raw dough), follow my steps for a fully baked treat.
Ingredients for Your Crookie:
- Costco croissants
- Store-bought cookie dough (about half a roll)
- Powdered sugar (optional, for a sweet finish)
Directions:
- Prep the Croissants: Use a serrated knife to carefully slice the croissants in half.
- First Bake: Spread about 3 tablespoons of cookie dough on the bottom halves of your croissants. Pop them in the oven at 320°F for 5-6 minutes or until the cookie dough has baked and turned golden.
- Add More Cookie Dough: After the first bake, place the croissant tops back on and add another 2 tablespoons of cookie dough on top. Bake everything for another 3 minutes, or until the cookie dough is nicely baked.
- Garnish: Once done, give them a light dusting of powdered sugar for that extra touch of sweetness. Enjoy your homemade crookie warm!
